2024 Dinner Meet at Mill Cottage

2024 Dinner Meet

21st September 2024

After overcoming the challenging A9, our Friday night contingent assembled at Mill Cottage in Feshiebridge to join John, who had been up earlier in the week, taking  full advantage of the excellent weather. It was an evening of catching up, sharing stories, and planning for the day ahead, and some

February 2023 – Muir Cottage, Inverey

24th February 2023

A very well attended meet at Muir Cottage, Inverey. The hut was full, since we were sharing it with some students from GCUMC, or GCUMC (nGUctw) to give its full title – "Glasgow Caledonian University Mountaineering Club (not Glasgow University, cos they’re wankers)". There was a sprinkling of

January 2023 – Burns Supper at Alex MacIntyre

20th January 2023

Greeted and shown around by a very friendly hut maintenance officer, we settled in for a relaxing Friday evening, talking about plans for the day ahead, keeping in mind the strong winds that were forecast and knowing the cloud was likely to be in. In the morning, Alex, Tim, Matt and Matt

New Year 2023 – Braedownie, Glen Clova

1st January 2023

Our New Year meet is always very well attended, and this year did not disappoint, with around 20 club and family members coming along to enjoy the mountains and the festivities! Hogmanay's walk saw a group heading for Mayar with the potential of Driesh, however, the first challenge was

2022 Dinner Meet

2022 Dinner Meet

23rd September 2022

Getting things on an even keel after Covid was obviously not quite so easy as we all thought, so the date for the 2022 dinner meet was run a little later than usual, many people had other arrangements but a good number were able to make it and a good time was had. Joady managed to secure the

Lagangarbh

July 2022 – Lagangarbh

23rd July 2022

The weather didn’t play ball this weekend! Danny and Niamh travelled up on Friday and climbed Agag’s Groove. On Saturday everyone (Mary, Danny, Niamh, Heather, Fiona and Calum) opted for a wet weather walk up the Devil’s staircase.

Inverfhaolin mountaineering club meet

April 2022 – Inverfhaolin

15th April 2022

This was a tough meet for a lot of people after several members finally succumbed to covid a few weeks before. Nobody was very sure what constituted overdoing it and it’s fair to say there was a bit of apprehension about going big! Cat went up Gulvain on Thursday and joined Mary and Stephen in

March 2022 – Glenlicht House

19th March 2022

Saturday saw Mary climb the Corbett Sgurr an Airgid whilst Danny, Blair, Joady, Cat, Alex, Alison, and prospective members Faye and Luke do a mammoth ascent of both A’Ghlas Bheinn and Beinn Fhada. This is not a short winter day by any stretch. There was still significant patches of snow and the wind

Invercroft Mountaineering Hut

February 2022 – Invercroft

19th February 2022

Our February meet was a wintery one! Mary and Cat headed up a day early and climbed the Corbet Sgurr nan Ceannaichean. The forecast had been grim all week but amazingly the pair didn’t get wet until the last leg on the bog-trot out. The snow was deep in parts and firms and windswept in others.
