Our New Year meet is always very well attended, and this year did not disappoint, with around 20 club and family members coming along to enjoy the mountains and the festivities!
Hogmanay’s walk saw a group heading for Mayar with the potential of Driesh, however, the first challenge was negotiating slipping around on icy tracks!
Alex and Lucas decided that they’d turn around by the waterfall in Corrie Fee to go back and get the fire on. A good idea, it turns out, as the rest went on to quite an epic!
Once all were back, and the last of our members arrived, it was time to turn our attention to bringing in the bells – but not before a wee dram of whisky.
While the traditional passing of the presidential tankard is usually retained for our Blackrock meet, bad conditions meant that was not possible this year, and so it was passed on from Joady to Mary at Braedownie. Mary’s Presidential acceptance speech (and outfit) were very memorable. As was her hangover!
Heather and Lorna were the only ones brave enough to face a dook. Colin threw snowballs at them in support.
A few members made the first walk of 2023 a visit to the stunning Loch Brandy, which never fails to disappoint.
And that about wraps up a fantastic year of mountaineering for the Braes o’ Fife.
Happy New Year one ane all!
