| 17th November 2006 - Ochils Hut, Crianlarich Jacqui, Lorna and Tara the dog attended the Ochils Hut meet. We got up quite early on the Saturday, to climb Meall Glas. The walk started off fine, but soon we were walking in soft snow, up to our knees. Tara got stuck down a snow hole, and had to be pulled out. Clearly, she is accident prone - like her owner ! It became evident that if we continued to the summit in those conditions, we would get back to the car at about 7pm, in total darkness. We decided to be sensible and go back down. However, it was still a great day's winter hill walking with blue skies and 360deg of snow covered hills. It was Jacqui's first day winter hill walking, and she enjoyed it. After a short visit to the Drover's Inn at Inverarnon, we spent a pleasant evening having a drink or two by the coal fire, while it snowed outside. Tara was completely flaked out. The next day dawned grey and cloudy, so we did a small forest walk near Comrie. All-in-all, it was a good weekend. LD |
