7th January 2006 - Mill Cottage The new year got off to a fine start, with a well attended meet and some good climbing. The weather had been cold all week, and stayed that way right through the weekend. On Saturday, Ken and Chris did Sneer (II/III) on Hell's Lum, including Chris' first lead on ice. A good effort, no dramas ! The route was very busy, with 7 parties on it at one point. Robert & Monica followed on later in the day and did the same route. As they were walking back along the cliffs of Coire an t'Schneachda, they heard shouts from one of the routes & ended up throwing a rope down to a party who were having some trouble. The Meadows family went exploring in Rothiemurcus, and Lorna did Beinn a'Chlachair on her way up to the hut. On Sunday, Robert & Neil did Central Gully in Coire an t'Schneachda, the report was "a good grade II on the day". Dave Mitchell climbed Western Slant in Coire an Lochain with his cousin, the report was "mental", perhaps a bit lean on the day. Others went shopping in Aviemore. |
