17th February 2006 - Muir of Inverey

Just Neil, Kevin & Sheila attended. There there was probably a lot less snow and ice than the holidaying crowd had in Cogne. On Saturday, Kevin & Sheila went up to Glenshee and climbed The Cairnwell and the hill behind it, taking skis with them. Kevin falling down "at least 47 times" according to his own account. Neil went in to Corrour Bothy, intending to go up Devil's Point, but lost the will to live while struggling through the bog to Corrour. He came back without climbing the hill, but on the return journey first went to the foot of the slabs on Carn a Mhaim to see if Silver Chimney was in nick (it wasn't). Then over the top of Carn Crom before dropping down to have a look in at the new Bob Scott's, was given a cup of tea by the incumbent. Back down to the road, returning via Mar Lodge due to an attack of nostalgia for childhood days. This was much regretted as sore feet set in on the long walk back along the road. Sunday saw all three climb most of a small hill above Inverey, then descend to Corriemulzie, cross the Victoria Bridge and follow the north bank of the Dee up to Linn o' Dee and back to the hut that way. How much more excitement could a body want?
