November 2021 – Milehouse

12th November 2021 by Braes o' Fife

The November meet to Milehouse at Kincraig was another popular meet with a good variety of activities. Everyone enjoyed the unseasonably warm and still weather.

Danny headed out early on Saturday morning for a mammoth walk in Glen Feshie taking in Carn Ban Mor, Tom Dubh, Monadh Mor and Beinn Bhrotain.

Calum was also up bright and early for a trip to the sourdough bakery at Kincraig. Calum, Stephen and Fiona then set off for a walk on Sgor Goaith, arriving at the summit just as the mist cleared enough to show the spectacular views down to over Loch Einich and across to Braeriach.  Not to be outdone the top of Sgoran Dubh Mor showed a Brocken Spectre for long enough to get a photo.

Cycling trips were popular . Mary went on a photography spree with her trusty camera and tripod on her bike in and around Rothiemurchus.

Adam, Alex and Colin met up with Alison at High Burnside to test out the mountain biking trails.

Lorna had a great day cycling to Nethy bridge via Ryvoan bothy, making full use of the day and arriving back just after dark.

A relaxing evening followed, sitting around the fire, sharing stories of the day and gently melting in the heat.  Mary set off to Loch Insh to practice photographing the stars, or maybe just to escape the heat of the fire.

Fiona and Calum walked up Creag Bhalg at Kingussie on Sunday, with description of tree planting thrown in by the friendly estate worker.

There was a visit on Sunday to Alastair Stewart’s bench at Mill cottage. The bench has become weather damaged and is in need of a lot of TLC. It was loaded into Adam’s van and brought back to Fife for its restoration. Pictures to follow after its restoration.
