A busy weekend for the club saw 12 members compete in the iconic “Devils’ Burdens” Relay Race in Falkland before heading to Braedownie to meet others for a Burns supper.
The club entered two teams (A & B) to the Burdens. The new format led to a great atmosphere at the base on the Falkland Estate and meant all team members could socialise a bit between legs. Maybe we need a personalised gazebo and flag for next year like the running clubs. I hear that’s what makes them run faster….
The A-team, Colin MacGregor took leg one in an impressive time of 00:56:36 Danny Doran and Alex Mitchell completed Leg 2 in 01:30:45, Robert McMurray and Craig Henderson kept the momentum going finishing leg 3 in 01:21:08 then John Kay romped home for the team completing leg 4 in 00:52:03 This gave the team a total time of 04:40:32 with a position of 67th.
Our B-team, many of whom were competing in their first-ever hill race saw Adam Peden complete leg 1 in 01:17:34 Heather Mack and Janet Murray complete leg 2 in 01:49:29 Heather Murdoch and Cat Marcol complete leg 3 in 01:58:45 and Gordon Thomson on leg 3 with an impressive 01:10:17. The B team finished in 06:16:05 with a position of 148th.
Special thanks to Adam, Craig and Janet for standing in last minute when three of the original runners had to pull out due to injury/illness. Massive Kudos to Heather Murdoch for completing after a nasty ankle injury on the way down too!

At Braedownie, the MacRaes ventured into the high winds to tackle some of the White Mounth Munros whilst the Macks, Lorna, Anne and Ken went up Mayar and Driesh.
The main event was Meg addressing the haggis before a grand feast for 21. Special thanks to the chefs and dishwashers – and of course Ken for his excellent supervision of the whole process.
