Every second year Black Rock marks the handing over of the Presidential Tankard. This year from outgoing president Lorna Duncan to our new President Joady MacRae. The tankard was filled with Balvenie Doublewood, on Colin’s recommendation!
The occasion is so prestigious that international member and former president Dave Murdoch jetted in from France especially!
On Friday, as is custom, Dan arrived early with the cask and had the fire going before most of us arrived. The meet was very well attended with many members not getting a bed and staying in the local hobbit houses at Glencoe Mountain.
The weather was grim, to say the least! Gale force winds, lots of snow and the various stages of cold/flu recovery put a lot of people low level for the weekend but over the course of the weekend members managed to snowboard/ski at Glencoe, and hike up Meall a’Bhuirdhe and Beinn a’Chrualaist (aka Hangover Hill). Others opted for a more low-level option which was to follow the West Highland Way inevitably checking out the Kingshouse Hotel.
