Saturday saw Mary climb the Corbett Sgurr an Airgid whilst Danny, Blair, Joady, Cat, Alex, Alison, and prospective members Faye and Luke do a mammoth ascent of both A’Ghlas Bheinn and Beinn Fhada. This is not a short winter day by any stretch. There was still significant patches of snow and the wind was very cold. Winter views can’t be beaten though. Once at the summit of Beinn Fhada most of the group chose to descend via the main path. Joady, Alex and Cat carried on over a ridge walk before a very steep descent down to the glen.
After a mammoth day, the cycle in the dark into the hut was not welcome. Into a headwind and through the river that we think was the track. After eating dinner in the hut, Cat discovered she’d left her sleeping bag at the van. It’s a cold hut in winter so she packed back up and cycled out again. Numpty!
Massive well done to Faye and Luke for throwing themselves into such a challenging winter walk and ride. I hope they believed us when we insisted not all meets are that full on. They just happened to get caught up in Cat’s compleation mission!
On Sunday, Alex, Joady, Alison and Cat climbed Sgurr a’Mhaoraich in lovely conditions. Joady regretted his choice of footwear and I’m sure Alison will be traumatised for a very long time after watching him “treat” the most incredible heel blisters anyone had ever seen.
